Section IV
The Texts that were attributed directly to the Old
Testament in the Gospels
In this section we will examine the texts of the Old
Testament that were attributed directly to it, and the Gospels authors said
that they have not been fulfilled, and achieved only in Jesus and his time and
his generation, to find out what is the truth and the reality of them, and if
the Gospels authors have told the truth or not.

- The Source of the Story that says that Jesus has predicted that his Disciples
and Peter will deny him
Matthew 26:30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the
Mount of Olives.
Matthew 26:31 Then
Jesus said to them, "All
of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for
it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the
flock will be scattered’.
Matthew 26:32 "But
after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."
Matthew 26:33 Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all
are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble."
Matthew 26:34 Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before
the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times."
Matthew 26:35 Peter said to Him, "Even if I have to die
with You, I will not deny You!" And so said all the
disciples.
Mark 14:26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the
Mount of Olives.
Mark 14:27 Then Jesus said to them, "All of you will be made to stumble because of Me
this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the
Shepherd, And the sheep will be scattered’.
Mark 14:28 "But
after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee."
Mark 14:29 Peter said to Him, "Even if all are made to
stumble, yet I will not be."
Mark 14:30 Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that today, even this night, before the rooster crows twice, you will
deny Me three times."
Mark 14:31 But he spoke more vehemently, "If I have to die
with You, I will not deny You!" And they all said likewise.
Luke 22:31 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he
may sift you as wheat.
Luke 22:32 "But
I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail;
and when you have returned to Me,
strengthen your brethren."
Luke 22:33 But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go
with You, both to prison and to death."
Luke 22:34 Then He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day
before you will deny three times that you know Me."
John 13:36 Simon Peter
said to Him, "Lord, where are You going?" Jesus answered him, "Where I am going you cannot
follow Me now, but you shall follow Me afterward."
John 13:37 Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not
follow You now? I will lay down my life for Your sake."
John 13:38 Jesus answered him, "Will you lay down your life for My sake? Most assuredly,
I say to you, the rooster shall not crow till you have denied Me three times."
These
are the texts that mentioned that Jesus has predicted that his disciples and
Peter will deny him, and there are several notes on them including the
following:
The
first is that Matthew and Mark have
quoted text from the Old Testament as a reason for this story, or to occurrence
of the story, while Luke has not attributed his story to the Old Testament, and
wrote different story as we read, and John has not written anything about this
story in his Gospel, knowing that he was there at that time as the other Gospels say. So
why he did not write this story if already happened or if it has been achieved
for it is written: "I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be
scattered", and the case with Luke as well, why he wrote different story?!
The
second is on the saying of Jesus that
he will meet the disciples in Galilee; this contrasts with what is written by
John and Luke, because they have written that he met the disciples in
Jerusalem, not in Galilee! (John 20:19-29) and (Luke 24:36-49).
However,
we must review the text of the Old Testament, which is mentioned in the Book of
Zechariah, which is as follows:
Zechariah 13:1 "In
that day a fountain shall be opened for the house of David and for the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for uncleanness.
Zechariah 13:2 "It shall be in that day," says
the LORD of hosts, "that I
will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they shall no
longer be remembered. I will also cause the prophets and the unclean
spirit to depart from the land.
Zechariah 13:3 "It shall come to pass that if anyone still prophesies,
then his father and mother who begot him will say to him,
‘You shall not live, because you have spoken lies in the name of the LORD’.
And his father and mother who begot him shall thrust him through when he
prophesies.
Zechariah 13:4 "And it shall be in that day that every prophet will be ashamed
of his vision when he prophesies; they will not wear a robe of coarse
hair to deceive.
Zechariah 13:5 "But he will say, ‘I am no prophet, I am a farmer; for a man taught me to keep cattle from my
youth’.
Zechariah 13:6 "And one
will say to him, ‘What are these wounds between your arms’? Then he will
answer, ‘Those with which I was
wounded in the house of my friends’.
In
these paragraphs the LORD says that in that day (and that day is a reference to
what he has talked about in the previous chapter, and John has quoted the
paragraph "They shall look on him whom they pierced" from it, as
shown in the previous text, because this text is an extension of it) a fountain
shall be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
for sin and for uncleanness, and He will cut off the names of the idols from
the land, and they shall no longer be remembered, and He will also cause the
prophets and the unclean spirit to depart from the land, and if anyone still
prophesies, then his father and mother will say to him "You shall not
live, because you have spoken lies in the name of the LORD", and it shall
be in that day that every prophet will be ashamed of his vision when he
prophesies, then He continues His talking about that day, saying:
Zechariah 13:7 "Awake,
O sword, against My Shepherd, Against the Man who is My Companion,"
Says the LORD of hosts. "Strike the Shepherd, And the sheep
will be scattered; Then I will turn My hand against the little
ones.
Zechariah 13:8 And it shall come to pass in all the land,"
Says the LORD, "That
two-thirds in it shall be cut off and
die, But one- third shall be left in
it:
Zechariah 13:9 I will bring the one-third through the fire, Will refine them as
silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will
call on My name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘This is My people’; And each one will
say, ‘The LORD is my God’."
In
these paragraphs the Lord asks the sword to wake up against His shepherd,
against the man who is His companion, because He wants to strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered; then He will turn His hand against the little
ones, and it shall come to pass in all the land that two-thirds in it shall be
cut off and die, but one-third shall be left in it, and the LORD will bring the
one-third through the fire, will refine them as silver is refined, and test
them as gold is tested, and they will call on His name, and He will answer them
"this is My people", and each one will say "The LORD is my
God".
This
is what the text of Zechariah was talking about, and I wonder where is the talking
about the disciples' denial of Jesus, or the crucifixion of Jesus?!
Knowing
that this text does not apply to Jesus nor the disciples, because he was not
shepherd, or ruler in one day throughout his life, even he refused to be king
when they tried to make him king over them, and he refused to divide the
inheritance between two brothers, as well as he refused to condemn the woman
who was caught in adultery, as in the following texts:
John 6:15 Therefore
when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force
to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.
Luke 12:13 Then one
from the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the
inheritance with me."
Luke 12:14 But He said to him, "Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?"
John 8:1 But Jesus went
to the Mount of Olives.
John 8:2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple,
and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.
John 8:3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a
woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,
John 8:4 they said to Him, "Teacher, this woman was caught in
adultery, in the very act.
John 8:5 "Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such
should be stoned. But what do You say?"
John 8:6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But
Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.
John 8:7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up
and said to them, "He
who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first."
John 8:8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.
John 8:9 Then those who heard it,
being convicted by their conscience,
went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing
in the midst.
John 8:10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the
woman, He said to her, "Woman,
where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?"
John 8:11 She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said to
her, "Neither do I
condemn you; go and sin no more."
So
where and when was Jesus a shepherd?!
As
for the disciples; the text of Zechariah says that two-thirds of sheep shall be
cut off and die, and one-third shall be left, and the LORD will bring the
one-third through the fire, will refine them as silver is refined, and test
them as gold is tested, and they will call on his name, and He will answer them
"This is My people"; and each one will say, "The LORD is my
God".
And
all these things do not apply to the disciples, because the Gospels did not
tell us that two-thirds of them have cut off and died, and all of them did not
say that the LORD is their God, because they worship three gods, even if they
said that those three is one, yet these three are not the LORD, because the
LORD is One, as shown in the first chapter previously!
In
addition the text of Zechariah says that the LORD in that day will cut off, or eliminate,
destroy, wipe away, remove, erase, get rid, remove and banish, according to
Various Versions, the names of the idols, while the disciples and the churches
had made millions of them.
Furthermore,
it says that the LORD in that day will remove the prophets, while we find that
the disciples (and many others) declare themselves as prophets, as is written
in the Acts of the Apostles, including the following text:
Act 21:8 On the
next day we who were Paul’s
companions departed and came to Caesarea, and entered the house of Philip
the evangelist, who was one
of the seven, and stayed with him.
Act 21:9 Now this man had four virgin daughters who
prophesied.
Act 21:10 And as we stayed many days, a certain prophet
named Agabus came down from Judea.
From all this, shows to us that the Gospels authors did not write their books according to the historical events, which they have seen or heard by trusted sources, but through the texts of the Old Testament, by reformulating them in their stories to bestow a state of holiness, credibility and reliability on the Gospels, away from the reality, and away from the true meaning of those texts, as well as away from the revelation and the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as is their way or method or approach of writing the Gospels, and this indicates that the law "do not accept the lying and false" applies to this story.
